Where Landscape Architecture Meets Illumination
Montana Light Company was built around a simple idea: outdoor lighting should be designed, not just installed. With a background in landscape architecture, every project starts with how a property actually reads at night — scale, shadow, and architecture — before a single fixture goes in the ground.
We plan, install, and support permanent, app-controlled lighting systems that highlight architecture, gardens, and outdoor living spaces across Montana, from Billings and the surrounding valley to mountain properties throughout the state. To date, that’s meant more than $250,000 in professionally installed lighting across 50+ projects — every one of them personally designed and overseen from first walkthrough to final app setup.
Montana adds its own design brief: long golden evenings in summer, early darkness in winter, and hard freezes that most lighting systems aren’t built for. Every system we design accounts for all of it, so it looks as good in January as it does in July.
